Adults Are Now Swapping Vegas Nights for Disney Days, According to New Study

As spring blossoms and summer looms, vacation fever hits America. However, the term “holiday” may hold different meanings for different people.

In a surprise twist that would have even Mickey Mouse raising an eyebrow, American adults are now more likely to choose a vacation to Disney World over the once reigning champion of adult getaways, Las Vegas.

Based on a fresh study conducted by PlayUSA, it seems nostalgia and the allure of fairy dust are proving more tempting to the mature masses than the glitzy neon allure of Las Vegas. The survey included 2,000 American participants, showing that out of the choice between the Happiest Place on Earth and the Entertainment Capital of the World, 53% of vacation lovers choose to visit the world of Disney every few years, while Vegas clocks in at 43%.

However, the number of people who never set foot in either of these hotspots is quite startling, with 47% avoiding Vegas and 38% avoiding Disney.

Just to emphasize the gravity of this finding: Adults are now dusting off their Minnie and Mickey ears and bending towards themed fizzy beverages and roller coasters over Sin City’s well-oiled machine of casinos, nightclubs, and adult-only fun. One would think Vegas’s decadent buffet of adult-focused attractions would still reign supreme, but the tables are turning.

The dollar signs also speak volumes. While it’s common to imagine dollars flying faster than roulette wheels in Vegas, statistics tell a different story. Disney trips, as it turns out, are significantly costlier than outings to Vegas.

In fact, a Disney vacation commands around 65% more cash out of your pocket than a Vegas break. On average, visitors spend $1,644 in Sin City, while Disney requires a deeper dip into the pocket, averaging $2,717. This surprising cost difference may make you reconsider your next vacation destination.

Why? It seems sentimental connections play a significant role in choosing a vacation destination. The study revealed that 43% of the respondents had an emotional connection to Disney World, compared to just 26% for Las Vegas. This shows Disney’s lasting impact on visitors, evoking a sense of nostalgia that makes them more likely to return as adults.

It seems that Disney’s magic is not just reserved for children; adults are now choosing to trade in their wild Vegas nights for Disney days. With new attractions and experiences constantly being added, it’s safe to say that Disney may continue to reign as a top vacation destination for adults for years to come.
