Winter Arrives Early at Wolf Creek: America’s First Ski Resort Set to Open Today
Wolf Creek boasts itself as the snowiest resort in Colorado, and today, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, marks the official start of its season!
While other ski resorts are still waiting for temperatures to drop and snow to fall, Wolf Creek is already prepared to welcome skiers and snowboarders from all over the country, marking it as the the first major ski resort in the nation to open this year!
To commemorate the 85th Anniversary, Opening Day will witness the ski area swathed in red and gold, the official colors of the anniversary. Skiers and boarders sporting these colors will receive a special 85th anniversary sticker, and the day will be filled with fun events and activities.
The First Day: Here’s What to Expect
Billowing with excitement, the ski area will open its doors for a full 7-day-a-week operation. The Bonanza, Treasure, and Nova Lifts will perform their very first ascents of the season, operating from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
These lifts will grant access to roughly 30% of the mountain. The Magic Carpet will also be in operation, specifically catering to the Wolf Pup & Wolf Rider Programs.
Wolf Creek Ski Area is promising machine-groomed trails ready for skiers and snowboarders. Trails include popular routes such as Tranquility, Bonanza Crossover, Navajo Trail, Summer Day, Divide Trail/Kelly Boyce, Powder Puff Valley, Thumper, Charisma, Bunny Hop, Nova, and Susan’s. However, uphill traffic is currently discouraged due to ongoing heavy equipment and snow-making operations.

For the grand opening, lift tickets will be reasonably priced at Local Appreciation Rates:

In addition, the ski school, ski & snowboard rental, and Treasure Sports will be open, alongside food and beverage offerings.
