10 States with the Biggest Sweet Tooth, According to DoorDash
Another Halloween has come and gone, and with it, the initial beginnings of new cavities and a severe sugar overload we are all still trying to get past. But some states have a much bigger sweet tooth than others, according to data from food delivery service DoorDash.
From the most popular Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to the hated Banana Laffy Taffy, DoorDash’s report found that Vermont has the biggest sweet tooth. The data is compiled by checking out which states ordered the most candy in the month leading up to and on Halloween.
1. Vermont
- Most Ordered Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Vermont may be known for maple syrup, but it turns out they’ve got a serious chocolate-and-peanut-butter obsession, too. The Green Mountain State combines a love of the outdoors with small-town charm, but don’t be surprised if the locals hand you a Reese’s instead of syrup.
Ski resorts and scenic drives bring people here year-round, and according to DoorDash’s data, they win the award for the most candy pit stops on those mountain trails.
2. South Dakota
- Most Ordered Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
South Dakota may be the home of Mount Rushmore, but apparently, they’d carve out some room for Reese’s if they could. This state is full of wide-open spaces, national parks, and a surprising number of peanut butter fans.
3. Nebraska
- Most Ordered Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
In Nebraska, it’s all about agriculture, college football, and, evidently, another winner for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. The Cornhusker State might be corn country, but that doesn’t mean they don’t indulge in a few sweets now and then.
Known for its friendly communities and relaxed vibe, Nebraska also ranks high on the list for candy deliveries.
4. Iowa
- Most Ordered Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Iowa may be a leading corn producer, but it’s not candy corn, but peanut butter and chocolate that clearly gets the most love. Between the sprawling farms and cozy small towns, Reese’s has found a loyal fan base.
5. Arizona
- Most Ordered Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Arizona’s desert landscape may be hot, but that doesn’t stop residents from craving a sweet treat. From the Grand Canyon to lively urban spots, Reese’s has claimed its place among their top favorites.
6. Rhode Island
- Most Ordered Candy: Gusher’s Tropical
Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but its candy appetite is big, especially when it comes to fruity Gushers.
Among the coastal towns and seafood spots, Rhode Island has a unique flair for mixing flavors. Between beach days and boating, residents here have Gushers on the brain.
7. Kansas
- Most Ordered Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
In Kansas, it’s another win for the Reese’s. The Sunflower State might be famed for its endless wheat fields, but the residents aren’t living alone on bread. With friendly people and a love for classic Americana, Kansas proves Reese’s is just as popular on the plains as anywhere else.
8. New Jersey
- Most Ordered Candy: Gusher’s Tropical
New Jersey’s love for Gushers Tropical shows the Garden State has a taste for a little flair. From bustling boardwalks to densely packed suburbs, candy cravings are never far off here. As a native myself, I don’t disagree with the New Jersey favorite that keeps it fruity and fun, with Gushers leading the way in popularity.
9. Oklahoma
- Most Ordered Candy: Chocolate Bar Assortment
Oklahoma likes to keep it classic with a whole assortment of chocolate bars. This is the classic mix of Hershey’s, Snickers, Twix, and more, where we hope the one that gets handed to us is the option that we actually like.
10. Wisconsin
- Most Ordered Candy: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
In Wisconsin, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups is another fan favorite. Between the rolling hills and the bustling cities, residents here have a clear taste for this beloved candy.
